We, at NJI Life, are extremely grieved on
the calamity due to devastating earthquakes
on Saturday, the 8th October, 2005, which
is feared to have killed and injured thousands
of people and caused massive destruction
in northern Pakistan leaving millions of
people homeless. We share the grief of all
earthquake victims in Pakistan and across
South Asia. May Allah give us all the strength
to help each other through our nation’s
hour of need.
I feel proud of NJI Life’s Staff and
Direct Sales Force, who immediately volunteered
to help the earthquake victims. We have
already made a contribution equal to one
day salary/commission of all employees of
NJI Life which amounted to Rs 1.0 million.
The amount was used to purchase various
items such as Tents, Blankets, Coffins,
Grocery etc. All the items were sent to
the affected areas by NJI Life team. The
trial and distress of our compatriots is
our own test of conscience. I also convey
our sorrow and grief to families of NJI
Life Policyholders, who were affected by
this catastrophe.
As regards NJI Life's progress during the
3rd quarter of year 2005, I am pleased to
announce that the Company has made an after-tax
profit of Rs. 39 million for the nine months
period ended September 30, 2005 as compared
to a loss of Rs. 24 million during the corresponding
period of 2004. We are very much optimistic
about the last quarter's even better results,
which would increase our overall profitability
for the year 2005.
