Constipation
is a very disturbing symptom for most of
the patients. When it occurs for a long
time it may lead to other symptoms, like
head aches, due to the toxic substances
resulted from decomposition of fecal matters
in the colon.
An article on abdominal symptoms, that relates
also to
constipation,
states that "constipation results from
not drinking enough fluids, not eating enough
dietary fiber, not being active enough,
and from misusing laxatives".
Also, the article explains what exactly
are the symptoms of constipation: "a
hard time passing stool, not being able
to pass stool, and/or having very hard stools;
straining to have a bowel movement; abdominal
swelling or feeling of continued fullness
after passing stool"
The treatment of constipation consists of
dietary measures, like drinking liquids
and eating food high in fiber ("bran;
whole-grain breads and cereals; and fresh
fruits and vegetables"), getting exercise,
avoiding the "use of "stimulant”
laxatives, such as Ex-Lax, or enemas without
your provider's okay".
