LIFE INSURANCE– A WAY OF LIFE:

Once a newspaper ran a front-page story by a reporter who found about 500 people lined up in front of a government office at 8 AM on a chilling cold morning. The reporter tried to find out the reason for this unusual line-up and came to know that the government department had advertised an opening of 5 jobs at a starting salary of almost equal to the barely minimum wages. The reporter, surprised that so many people would be interested in such low-paying jobs, went down the line and interviewed a fair number of applicants, and from all came the same answer: they were interested in the job because of JOB SECURITY.

  What People Want

A survey carried out by a manufacturing firm was aimed at employees who had been with the company for five years or more. The survey answers were given anonymously. There were replies to two questions that reflected positively on the usefulness of life insurance. The first question was:

What is your greatest hope in life?
The answers were:

To be financially secured

To have happiness and security

To be carefree in old age

To be sure that my family will be secure

To retain my health and my job

To have the respect of my family and friends.

To sum it up – the greatest hope in life is the hope for Security

The second question was:

What is your greatest fear in life?
The answers were:

Exposure to dangerous situations

Not being able to carry on for self and family

Sickness and unemployment

Poverty and death

Dependence in old age

All these fears if added tantamount to Insecurity

Sometime back, Fortune magazine ran a poll asking an interesting series of questions of 10,000 men. The question reflecting on importance of life insurance was: Given free choice, which one would you select:

A very low income but secured job.

A medium income with reasonable job security

An extremely high-income job with no job security.

Of the 10,000 men, 48% answered that they would choose the first job – an extremely low income job with job security.

  Security Vs. Freedom

People have always wanted security, and to a certain extent, people have always been able to gain some measure of security. Life insurance offers people the most efficient method of achieving economic security. There are four great threats to security: unemployment, disability, death and old age. Life insurance is the only instrument that offers elements of security against these four threats.

Today, life insurance is not only the most efficient way of furnishing security, but for most people it is the only way that they can provide security. No doubt, some governments also provide help through social security system. But what is the difference between the security provided by the state and the security managed by the individual himself. Yes, it is the Dignity. The security with dignity is the real security. The only difference between an old man and an elderly gentleman is their income.

  A Way Of Life:

Life insurance is sold for the preservation of the home. When we protect the home, we protect the family, the very basic unit in our national structure. A country composed of secure homes is a strong country. Life insurance is sold to guarantee the future of the children. Today's children are tomorrows citizens. A country peopled with educated, healthy, and happy citizens is surely a strong country. Life insurance not only insures a life, it ensures a way of life where security, dignity and freedom reign supreme.
